Sheriff office informing residents of sex offender's new address
The Yuma County Sheriff's Office is informing the community of a Level 2 sex offender's new address.
George Oranday, 48, is described as being 5 feet 5 inches tall, 180 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He is now residing at 690 W County 17 ½ St. in Somerton.
In April of 2011, Oranday was convicted of sexually abusing of a 15-year-old girl by Yuma County Superior Court and was placed on intensive probation for 36 months.
Offenders are categorized in three levels. Level 1 is a low risk to reoffend, Level 2 an intermediate risk and Level 3 a high risk. Oranday is considered a Level 2 sex offender.
Oranday is not wanted by law enforcement. The sheriff's office is releasing information about his new address pursuant to the community notification law on sex offenders.
The YCSO is responsible for registering sex offenders who reside in Yuma County. This includes new registrations, address changes and/or updates, and confirming offenders that have moved out of the area. During the month of December 2012, the YCSO:
* Registered 3 new sex offenders
* Confirmed 0 sex offenders that moved out of the area
* Received 6 sex offender address changes
* Conducted 55 sex offender compliance checks
* Tracked a total of 331 sex offenders in Yuma County
