CHRISTOPHER BROWN

Sex offender has new Yuma address

The Yuma Police Department is informing the community of a Level 2 sex offender’s new address.

Christopher Brown, 35, is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall, 162 pounds, with black hair and green eyes. He is now residing at 457 S. 17th Ave. in Yuma.

In January 2001, Brown pleaded guilty in Yuma County Superior Court to one count of attempted molestation of a child and was sentenced to seven months in jail. A police investigation at the time revealed that Brown had sexual contact with a 12-year-old girl he knew.

Then in 2005, Brown failed to register as a sex offender in Yuma County and was sentenced to prison until he was released in July 2011.

Offenders are categorized in three levels. Level 1 is a low risk to reoffend, Level 2 an intermediate risk and Level 3 a high risk. Brown is considered a Level 2 sex offender.

Brown is not wanted by law enforcement. YPD is releasing information about his new address pursuant to the community notification law on sex offenders.
