Sheriff deputies find meth during traffic stop
The Yuma County Sheriff's Office said it arrested two people after finding a large amount of drugs in their car during a traffic stop Tuesday.
According to the sheriff's office, at about 8 p.m. a deputy stopped a vehicle at Avenue 3E near Gila Ridge Road for speeding in a construction zone. A K9 unit was called to the scene and alerted to the vehicle.
The sheriff's office said a search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of three pounds of methamphetamine worth an estimated $30,000.
The driver, Jose Pablo Vargas, 26, and passenger, Ana Sanchez Moreno, 25, both of Yuma, were arrested and booked into the Yuma County Detention Center on charges of possession of a dangerous drug for sale, possession of a dangerous drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.
