Woman riding scooter hit by car in Somerton
A Somerton woman was hit by a car Wednesday morning while riding her scooter at the intersection of Main Street and Bingham Avenue.
According to Robby Rodriguez, a spokesman for the Somerton/Cocopah Fire Department, the accident happened at about 9:02 a.m. The female driver of the scooter, whose name was not available, suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
“It was a slow-speed accident,” Rodriguez said. “(The car) bumped her off the scooter and she hit the pavement.”
Rodriguez said the woman was injured when she landed on the ground, sustaining a possible broken leg. The driver of the car, whose name was also not available, was not injured.
The woman was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center by Somerton/Cocopah ambulance in what Rodriguez called “good condition.”
The Somerton Police Department is investigating the accident.
