Yuma Star nominations being accepted
Comments 0 | Recommend 0YumaSun.com is now accepting nominations for the 2009 Yuma Star.
The annual singing competition, produced by YumaSun.com, is moving into its sixth year of scouting local talent.
Contestants have the opportunity to compete for $800 in cash prizes and local fame.
The 2009 Yuma Star will follow this schedule:
• The first group will compete in a live performance Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. in the Historic Yuma Theatre.
• The top 10 from the first group will proceed to Round 2 online voting where the public can vote for their favorites between Sept. 11 and Sept. 17.
• The second group will compete in a live performance Sept. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Historic Yuma Theatre.
• The top 10 from the second group will proceed to Round 2 online voting where the public and vote for their favorites between Sept. 18 and Sept. 24.
The top five from each online voting session will compete at the finals, a live performance Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. in the Historic Yuma Theatre.

Deadline for all nominations is 5 p.m. Aug. 21. Applications can be e-mailed to marketing@yumasun.com or delivered to Sun Media offices.
