Governor, treasurer in Yuma Thursday
Thursday will be a busy day in Yuma for state politics.
The day will kick off with a rally by Arizona Treasurer Dean Martin at 9 a.m. at Chile Pepper, 1030 W. 24th St. The public is invited.
Martin's visit is part of a statewide rally planned by the treasurer following a major announcement and rally he's holding early Wednesday in Phoenix regarding his political future.
While his plans were being kept under wraps Tuesday, Martin has said he wants to be governor at some point. He also hinted that he might simply be announcing he wants a new four-year term as treasurer.
That afternoon, Gov. Jan Brewer is scheduled to deliver her State of the State speech at Yuma City Hall, One City Plaza. Brewer's speech will be similar to the State of the State address she presented Monday during the opening session of the Legislature at the state capitol.
She is scheduled to speak at 4 p.m. in the Yuma City Council Chambers. The event is open to the public and overflow seating will be provided if necessary.
After speaking, Brewer will be at a hosted reception at 5 p.m. at Lutes' Casino, 221 S. Main St.
People are invited to come to meet the governor.
