AWC events: Valentine dinner show, fine arts showcase
Valentine event at St. Paul's Cultural Center
Trying to figure out what to do on Valentine's Day?
Theater faculty and former students from Arizona Western College and the Gateway Players will present “An Evening of Romance: Dinner with Romeo and Juliet.”
“At a cost of $50 a person, this Dinner with Romeo and Juliet will have attendees licking their plates and enjoying a condensed version of the bard's greatest love story. Dinner and the show will run approximately two hours,” stated an AWC release.
The event will be held Thursday and Saturday at 7 p.m. at the St. Paul's Cultural Center, 645 S. 2nd Ave.
“This is a great Valentine's Day opportunity to let your loved one know how special they are to you,” said Chip Straley, AWC theater professor.

Fine arts showcase to highlight local talent, give back
An annual showcase will take place on the college's main campus on Friday and Saturday featuring many students from fine arts groups across campus and Yuma County.
“A Fine Art's Showcase” will feature actors, singers, dancers, artists, musicians and many more at 7:30 p.m. in the AWC Theatre, 2020 S. Avenue 8E.
Attendees are asked to donate $10 or five articles of clean, wearable clothing or five items of nonperishable food for entry. Monetary donations will be for AWC Theatre, the clothing for Crossroads Mission and the food for the Yuma Community Food Bank.
“AWC Theatre believes that theater, and indeed all art, ought to serve the community, said Chip Straley, theater professor. “This is one way we can do just that.”
