Cyclist seriously injured
A 29-year-old bicyclist was seriously injured Monday morning after he collided with a vehicle at the intersection of 17th Avenue and 24th Street, according to Yuma police.
Officer Leanne Worthen, a spokeswoman for the Yuma Police Department, said the accident happened just before 8 a.m.
Worthen said the car, a 2003 white Honda, was stopped at the stop sign at the intersection waiting to make a right turn onto 24th Street. The bicycle was westbound on 24th Street in the designated bike path against traffic.
As the Honda was making its right turn onto 24th Street, the cyclist entered the intersection and collided with the car.
The cyclist was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center, and no citations were issued to either party in the accident.
