Avenue A, 8th Street to 16th Street
The contractor working on the city of Yuma's Avenue A reconstruction project is working between 13th Street and 15th Street. Currently, Avenue A is closed completely from 13th Street to 16th Street.

Traffic is currently open between 8th Street and 12th Street. Crews will return to these areas later in the project to lay a final course that raise Avenue A to grade level with intersecting side streets.

Plans still call for work directly in front of O.C. Johnson Elementary School to take place during the school's upcoming winter break.

City of Yuma Fog Seal program, Dec. 3-7
City of Yuma Street Maintenance crews continue applying fog seal in the upcoming week. During the period of Dec. 3-7, work will take place in the following locations:

• Las Casitas subdivision

• 18th Street, from Avenue A to 8th Avenue

Avenue 3E Bridge, Gila Ridge Road to 24th Street
A contractor working for ADOT is improving and widening the Avenue 3E Bridge located between Gila Ridge Road and 24th Street in Yuma. The project is a cooperative effort between ADOT and the City of Yuma and is scheduled for completion in summer 2013.

The project includes widening the bridge over the railroad tracks from two to six lanes with a center median, new pavement, and pedestrian walkways. Two-way traffic is expected to be maintained during expansion of the bridge, which will be built to include three lanes each direction when complete. There will be some speed limit reductions during this project.

Electric Light Parade, Dec. 8
The annual Dorothy Young Memorial Electric Light Parade is scheduled 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 8. Traffic control setup will begin around 3 p.m. on the route, which will begin at 3rd Avenue and 11th Street, proceed north on 3rd Avenue and Orange Avenue to Madison Avenue, north to Giss Parkway, east to Main Street, north to 2nd Street, then east to the parking lot between Gila and Maiden.

Christmas Village plans to affect some 1st St. traffic
With the Christmas Village returning to the Quartermaster Depot, 1st Street will see some restrictions between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. Dec. 14 through Dec. 23. Left turns will be prohibited from eastbound 1st Street onto 2nd Avenue, and 2nd Avenue will be closed north of 1st Street.

Farmers Markets Tuesdays on Main St.
The Farmers Markets are scheduled to return to the downtown area on Tuesdays beginning Dec. 4. Main Street will be closed from 2nd Street to 3rd Street to all vehicle traffic from approximately 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. those Tuesdays.

1st Avenue south of 24th Street, – sewer lateral
Repair work to a sewer lateral will require a 2-day closure of 1st Avenue for one block south of 24th Street between Monday and Dec. 14. Local traffic should detour using Madison Avenue.

Hummingbird Drive and Avenue 10E
A secondary gate to Westwind RV and Golf Resort will be installed and pavement extended from Hummingbird Drive to Avenue 10E. Those using Avenue 10E, or the Avenue 10E alignment through desert, for through traffic will need to use Payson Drive.
