Avenue 3E Bridge, Gila Ridge Road to 24th Street
A contractor working for ADOT is improving and widening the Avenue 3E Bridge located between Gila Ridge Road and 24th Street in Yuma. The project is a cooperative effort between ADOT and the city of Yuma and is scheduled for completion in summer 2013.
The overall project includes widening the bridge over the railroad tracks from two to six lanes with a center median, new pavement, and pedestrian walkways. Two-way traffic is expected to be maintained during expansion of the bridge, which will be built to include three lanes each direction when complete. There will be some speed limit reductions during this project.
24th Street, Arizona Avenue to James
Southwest Gas has a 10-day gas pipeline replacement project scheduled on 24th Street between Arizona Avenue and just east of James Avenue between now and April. The center turn lane and the left eastbound lane of 24th Street will be closed during this time, and left turns will be prohibited to and from James Avenue and James Drive at 24th Street.
8th Avenue south of 32nd Street
Private contractor improvements to the former Target building will take place March 4-29. Northbound 8th Avenue will be narrowed on the approach to 32nd Street.
City of Yuma street maintenance, Feb. 25 - March 1
During the period of Feb. 25 through March 1, city of Yuma street maintenance crews will perform work in the following locations:
• Cresta Gila Estates (crack seal)
• San Marcos Estates (crack seal)
• Palm Drive subdivision (grinding and sweeping)
• Westridge subdivision (grinding/sweep)
• Palmcroft subdivision (grinding and sweeping)
40th Street, 4E to 5E
Beginning as soon as Tuesday, Feb. 26, 40th Street will be closed to through traffic between Avenue 4E and Avenue 5E, and closed to all traffic at Avenue 4-1/2E for 1-2 days. This is for private water line work to take place.
Avenue B, 28th Street to 26th Street
The right northbound lane of Avenue B will be closed from 28th Street for about a block for approximately 3 days in the upcoming weeks for a private installation of conduit and cable near the roadway.
Farmers Markets Tuesdays on Main Street
The Farmers Markets are scheduled to return to the downtown area on Tuesdays beginning Dec. 4. Main Street will be closed from 2nd Street to 3rd Street to all vehicle traffic from approximately 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. those Tuesdays.
Letvin Avenue water line project
A contractor working for the city of Yuma is installing a new 10-inch water line from water tanks to 18th Street alignment and then south on Letvin Avenue to 20th Street, then performing a partial street replacement. Workers will be on site between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Work is expected to wrap up by late April.
24th Street water line - Pacific to Arizona
The city has awarded a contract to replace the water line under 24th Street between Pacific Avenue and Arizona Avenue. Construction is expected to begin later this winter and take approximately 5 months to complete. A neighborhood meeting will precede construction work but is not scheduled at this time.
