Police foot chase ends in arrest

A foot pursuit through neighborhood yards ended with the arrest of the suspect Thursday afternoon.

An officer was conducting a traffic stop at the corner of 24th Street and Kennedy Lane when a backseat passenger fled the vehicle. Officers ran after the suspect as he jumped fences and crossed backyards.

Police caught him a short time later after they discovered him hiding in a yard. A warrants check revealed the suspect, Edgard Garcia, 27, was wanted on a misdemeanor warrant.

Garcia was arrested and booked on the warrant. He also faces charges of criminal trespassing for running through residents' yards and hiding on private property.

Police also searched the 1990 Toyota 4-Runner with a K-9 unit but did not find anything suspicious. The driver and another passenger were released.
