Neighbor's call leads to arrests of burglary suspects
Comments 0 | Recommend 0A neighbor's concern led to the arrest of two burglary suspects Tuesday night in the Foothills, the Yuma County Sheriff's Office said.
Terresa Welden, 26, and Deborah Cain, 49, both of Yuma, were arrested after a concerned neighbor called the sheriff's office to report possible trespassing at a vacant home in the 12500 block of East Patricia Drive shortly after 7 p.m., the sheriff's office said.
The neighbor reported seeing a bicycle at the residence that did not belong there, the sheriff's office said.
Deputies found Welden and Cain inside the home in the process of burglarizing it.
Both were also found in possession of methamphetamines, the sheriff's office said.
"In this particular case, an observant neighbor did what we've been trying to get people to do for a long time - pay attention" and call the sheriff's office, said Capt. Eben Bratcher, sheriff's spokesman.
They were booked into the county jail on suspicion of trespassing, burglary and possession of dangerous drugs.
