Estrella TV seeks local talent for televised competition
Could it be that you have what it takes to compete for $100,000 and a new car in a national televised talent show?
Producers of the program “Tengo Talento, Mucho Talento” (“I Have Talent, Lots of Talent”), which airs on the Spanish-language network Estrella TV, will be back in Calexico, Calif., on Jan. 28 to hold auditions for residents of Yuma and Imperial counties who want to show off their talents in singing, dance, comedy and other entertainment form.
Those who impress judges with their talent could be selected to take part in the show, which is aired in the Yuma area on KSWT-TV channel 13.3 and Time Warner cable Channel 80 and communities around the United States where Burbank, Calif.-based Estrella TV broadcasts its entertainment programming.
The winner will take home not only $100,000 but a new Ford Fiat in the competition, which is modeled after “America's Got Talent” and “American Idol.”
Even for those who don't claim the top prize, “Tengo Talento, Mucho Talento” offers the chance to gain national exposure that could lead to entertainment careers, said Michael Ochoa, promotions manager in Yuma for Estrella TV and creative director for KSWT-TV.
The auditions will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. California time on the 28th in Calexico at the Las Palmas swap meet, 1305 Olive Ave.
Auditions are free and open to all competitors 13 years of age and older.
Although most auditioners are expected to sing or dance, the auditions are open to actors, magicians, stand-up comedians and those who want to show off talents in any other entertainment form, said Ochoa.
Auditions must be performed in Spanish, he added.
The producers of the show offer the auditions in all markets where Estrella TV broadcasts shows. This is the second year they have come to the area of Yuma and Imperial counties to look for local talent.
The top talent identified at the auditions will advance to semi-final rounds, from with the field of competitors will be narrowed down in the weekly broadcasts of the program, Ochoa said.
The network has not yet released the schedule of programs leading up to the final televised round at which the winner will be announced.
