Hwy. 95 traffic signal at Avenue D to go live Thursday

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

A traffic signal will be directing motorists at the newly improved intersection of Avenue D and Highway 95 starting Thursday, the Arizona Department of Transportation says.

ADOT is installing the signal and widening Avenue D to establish left-turn lanes onto Highway 95 in response to growing traffic in south Yuma County in recent years.

The intersection improvements are being completed this week in time to make the signal functional on Thursday, ADOT said in a news release Monday. Message boards posted along Highway 95 this week will remind motorists of the signal at the intersection east of Somerton.

As part of the $565,000 project, curbs and gutters will be installed on Avenue D, and the improved portion is scheduled to be striped on Wednesday.

Updates on the construction are available by calling the project phone line at 317-2163.
