A 15-year-old boy was killed after the truck he was driving in Dateland Thursday afternoon rolled over, the Yuma County Sheriff's Office said.
The 2002 white Chevrolet pickup was traveling east on Glendale Road near Avenue 64-1/4E when the unidentified driver lost control of the truck, causing it to leave the roadway, strike a raised berm and roll over.
The boy was killed when he was thrown from the truck, sheriff's spokesman Capt. Eben Bratcher said.
Three other juvenile passengers in the truck were not injured, Bratcher said.
The legal driving age is 16, and Bratcher said how a 15-year-old came to be driving the truck is under investigation.
Sheriff's investigators were trying to locate the family Friday morning, he said. "We were told they were aware (of the accident), but we need to meet with them face to face."
