AWC adds late-start courses

Students on the waiting list at Arizona Western College to get into Math 121 - Intermediate Algebra have the opportunity to enroll in a late-start version of the class starting Monday.

The additional class was made possible thanks to a temporary one-year position supported by the STEM Future Grant awarded to AWC last year.

Civic engineer Victoria Martinez-Bellow was hired by AWC to teach the course.

“These mathematics classes have in the past not been offered as a late start; therefore we are changing the culture for our AWC students... This will be a great opportunity for many of those students to not have to wait an entire semester to take this class,” says Dr. Cecilia Vigil, associate dean for the division of science, math, and agriculture.

For more information contact Vigil at cecilia.vigil@azwestern.edu or 344-7555.

Other recently added late-start courses include ANT 130 - Intro to Cultural Anthropology (online) and PHI 103 - Intro to Logic (hybrid). Both courses will begin Oct. 1.
