Treasurer and judge races hotly contested

Early results released at 11 p.m. Tuesday indicated the races for judge of Superior Court Division 4 and Yuma County treasurer were extremely close.

In the race for Superior Court judge, Democrat Jim Clark had received 9,115 votes, or 49.58 percent, while Republican David Haws had received 9,106 votes or 49.80 percent.

“It is a little bit anxious, but I will wait and see the results and go from there,” Haws said. “You have to let all the votes be counted. When it is that close, it may take some time to certify the provisional ballots. I am hopeful.”

Clark could not be reached for comment as of press time Tuesday.

In the race for county treasurer, Republican David Egeberg had received 11,175 votes, or 52 percent, while Democrat Angela Pancrazi Moreno had received 10,157 votes or 48 percent.

“I'm going to be staying up late,” Egeberg said, noting there was nothing to do except to wait. “The voters will decide, so we will all see. The election is a long way from over.”

Pancrazi Moreno could not be reached for comment as of press time Tuesday.
