Yuma crews repair broken water line

Repairs were completed at about 11 a.m. Friday to a broken water line along 16th Street and water service was restored to area businesses that had been impacted.

The 12-inch water transmission on 16th Street just east of Interstate 8 was broken early Friday morning when it was struck by the contractor working on the roadway widening project, reported Greg Hyland, city spokesman.

He said the impact on area businesses was "minimal" and city crews responding to the break completed repairs an hour earlier than anticipated.
