One injured in collision
Comments 0 | Recommend 0A Yuma man was injured in a collision in the intersection of 7th Avenue and 16th Street.
At 7:30 a.m. Saturday, a 1992 Geo Metro, being driven by Frank Laguna, 79, of Yuma, was traveling eastbound on 16th Street and making a left turn onto northbound 7th Avenue, according to a Yuma Police Department news release.
Gerald Massie, 47, of Yuma, was driving a 1999 cement truck operated by Valley Sand and Gravel westbound in the 600 block of 16th Street when he saw Laguna make a left turn in front of him. Massie tried to avoid the Metro but was unable to stop, and the vehicles collided, the release said.
Laguna was treated on the scene and taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries to his right side, according to the release.
YPD is investigating the accident, and no citations have been issued.
