Yuma police to honor fallen
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Yuma-area law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty will be honored Thursday evening in memorial service open to the public.
The Annual Law Enforcement Memorial Day Services, hosted by Yuma Lodge 24 of the Fraternal Order of Police, will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a procession of law enforcement vehicles leaving the Yuma Police Department, 1500 S. 1st Ave., and traveling north on 4th Avenue to the Yuma Crossing State Historic Park, 201 N. 4th Ave.
The one-hour program includes a keynote speech by Paul A. Beeson, chief patrol agent of the Border Patrol's Yuma sector.
Other activities include a remembrance of law enforcement officers who died in past years as well as recognition of those still serving.
The police department's Honor Guard Team will post the American flag and conduct a 21-gun salute.
The public is encouraged to attend.
The ceremony comes on the heels of a memorial service held at the Border Patrol's Yuma Sector headquarters last Thursday for fallen Border Patrol agents.
