Yuma man killed in Saturday accident

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Speed and alcohol may have been factors in an accident Saturday night that claimed the life of a Yuma man, police said.

A red Jeep Wrangler driven by 56-year-old Gregory Stafford was traveling north on 14th Avenue in the 1000 block when it struck a parked vehicle shortly before 9 p.m., Yuma police said.

The Jeep rolled as a result of the impact, ejecting Stafford, who was not wearing his seatbelt, police said.

Stafford was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center, where he later died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the accident, police said.

Police say no other people are believed to be involved in the accident.

Speed and alcohol may have been factors, although the investigation remained under investigation, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information about the case to call officer Russ Hartley at 783-4421 or 78-Crime to remain anonymous.
