Yuma sector welcomes new assistant chief patrol agent
A 14-year veteran of the U.S. Border Patrol, become the Yuma sector’s newest Assistant Chief Patrol Agent last Monday.
ACPA Justin A. Bristow comes to Yuma from the U.S. Border Patrol Headquarters in Washington, D.C., where he served since 2005.
"We are happy to have him," said Agent Michael Bernacke, a spokesman for the Yuma sector Border Patrol. "He has a well-rounded background."
Bristow began his career with the Border Patrol in August 1995, entering on duty in Naco, Ariz. He later transferred in June 1998 to Douglas, Ariz. where he was promoted to Senior Patrol Agent and then to Supervisory Border Patrol Agent.
While assigned to the Douglas Station, Bristow served as a member of the Critical Incident Team and as a Public Affairs Officer.
In August 2003, Bristow was promoted to Field Operations Supervisor and reassigned to the Border Patrol Station in Calexico, Calif.
Then in 2005 Bristow became the U.S. Border Patrol’s liaison to the Customs and Border Protection Office of Congressional Affairs in Washington, D.C. In this position, he conducted special briefings, coordinated congressional hearings, and reviewed testimonies, policies and the drafting of legislation. Bristow’s efforts were also considered instrumental in securing congressional support for programs such as Operation Streamline, as well as acquiring funding for operational resources within the Border Patrol. Bristow was promoted to Associate Chief at the U.S. Border Patrol Headquarters in March 2007.
Among his accomplishments Bristow holds a bachelor’s degree in Administration of Justice from Rutgers University and recently completed the Executive Leadership certificate program offered by Georgetown University.
