Suspect arrested in Loera murder
Cesar Angulo Jr., 30, of Yuma has been arrested in connection with the murder of 29-year-old Joseph Loera, according to the Yuma Police Department.
Angulo was arrested as he tried to escape from officers out of a back door of a residence at 2724 W. 26th Lane Saturday evening, said Sgt. Clint Norred, YPD spokesman.
YPD officers responded to the residence after evidence in the investigation of Loera's murder led them to the address.
Loera died after being shot Dec. 20 in Yuma near 15th Street and 9th Avenue .
Angulo was booked in the Yuma County Adult Detention Center on suspicion of second-degree murder.
During the investigation, YPD also arrested Alesha Ahlquist, 19, and Tara Contreras, 22. Both were booked into the Yuma County Adult Detention Center on suspicion of hindering the prosecution of a second-degree murder.
On Sunday, Angulo made his initial appearance in Yuma Justice Court before Judge James Montgomery, Justice Court reported. There is no bond for Angulo. He will appear in Justice Court again before Judge Manuel Figueroa at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Ahlquist and Contreras also made their initial appearance Sunday before Montgomery. A bond of $7,435.20 was set for each of them. They too are scheduled to appear before Figueroa.
