‘Coupon Queen' coming to Yuma for workshop

Those who follow the weekly column by Jill Cataldo, the coupon queen, will soon have an opportunity to learn from her in person.

Through an event produced by the Yuma Sun, Cataldo will present a couponing workshop in Yuma on Nov. 10 at the Gila Ridge High School auditorium, 7150 E. 24th St. A vendor expo will begin at 4:30 p.m. Doors to the main event will open at 5:30 p.m. and Cataldo will begin her presentation at 6:30 p.m.

“People are doing everything they can to save money right now,” said Adrianne Wagner, marketing director for the Yuma Sun. “They're watching what they spend and saving coupons out of the newspaper. Now they can see how someone uses coupons professionally. With her here, they'll be able to learn from her.”

Cataldo became a serious coupon user a few years ago when she found she was expecting her third child. She began using the Internet to track store sales and learned the best time to use coupons from the newspaper and the Internet in conjunction with those sales.

Since then, she has saved thousands of dollars on groceries. Soon she was sharing what she's learned with others through blogs, workshops, TV appearances and her nationally syndicated newspaper column, “Coupon Queen” that is published in the Yuma Sun on Mondays.

For her appearance in Yuma, tickets will be sold for three sections of the auditorium. VIP seats will be $15, premium $12 and general $10.

For the convenience of those who also want to attend the Yuma Sun's popular Taste of Home event, combination tickets can be purchased for admission to both events, Wagner said. Those combo tickets will be VIP $35, premium $22 and general $18.

Tickets are available at the Yuma Sun during business hours.

Wagner said the two events are not related. “We're just doing the coordinated tickets to help people who want to attend both events.”

The appearance by Cataldo is being brought to Yuma as a public service. For more information, contact Wagner at 539-6805. Or they can visit yumasun.com/couponevent.

Taste of Yuma is held annually as a fundraiser for the Yuma Sun's Newspapers in Education program. It will be held at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Gila Ridge High School auditorium. For more information about that event, visit YumaSun.com/TasteofHome or contact Karen Phillips at 539-6806.
