‘Blood Into Wine' to be screened at Historic Yuma Theatre
What does it take to turn a piece of property in Northern Arizona into a successful vineyard? Find out Feb. 15 at the Historic Yuma Theatre.
NexGen, in conjunction with the Yuma Arts and Culture Division and the Historic Yuma Theatre, will be showing Blood Into Wine, a documentary that follows alt-rocker Maynard James Keenan and his quest to make wine — one so delicious it has been declared the official Arizona Centennial wine.
“It is really an enjoyable movie and is quite informative,” said Isaac Russell, an event organizer. “It is a rock ’n’ roll roller coaster documentary, not a high school science class documentary.”
The wine comes from Caduceus Cellars, a winery located in Arizona’s Verde Valley. Keenan, a musician descended from Northern Italian wine makers, founded the winery in 2004. He had become famous while singing for the band “Tool,” and later performed with the supergroup “A Perfect Circle.”
Blood Into Wine will be shown at 7 p.m. Feb. 15 at the Historic Yuma Theatre, which is also celebrating its centennial year.
Keenan’s Stronghold Centennial wine — a red, a white and a rose — will be available for purchase during the film and after, with representatives from the winery on hand to answer any questions. Each glass of wine costs $5, and bottles will also be for sale for about $25.
The screening, which is an official, sanctioned Arizona Centennial event, is free to the public.
