Three-car collision sends two to hospital

Yuma police were dispatched to the scene of a three-vehicle injury accident late Sunday morning at 32nd Street and 8th Avenue that sent two people to the hospital.

The accident happened at approximately 11:54 a.m. Police say a silver Nissan Murano driven by Luz Celaya, 40, of Yuma, was traveling westbound on 32nd Street approaching 8th Avenue and failed to stop at the red light at the intersection and collided with a red Ford Escort.

The Ford Escort had been traveling westbound on 32nd Street and was attempting to turn left onto 8th Avenue when it was struck by Celaya in her Nissan. The force of the collision caused the Ford Escort to spin around and hit a red Dodge Coupe that was behind it.

According to Yuma police, Celaya failed to stop for a red light and was cited. Both her and the driver of the red Ford Coupe were transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries they sustained in the collision.

Anyone with information on this case is encouraged to contact the Yuma Police Department at (928)373-4700 or 78-Crime to remain anonymous.
