Witnesses sought in 16th Street-Yuma Palms Parkway crash

The Yuma Police Department is seeking witnesses of a two-vehicle accident that happened Monday afternoon at the intersection of 16th Street and Yuma Palms Parkway.

According to YPD, the incident happened just before 2:06 p.m. as 81-year-old Richard Carroll of Montana was traveling westbound on 16th Street through the intersection in a blue 2010 Chrysler Town and Country minivan.

At the same moment, a white 2003 Honda Accord driven by 20-year-old Lauren Reily turned left from the eastbound turning lane on 16th Street onto Yuma Palms Parkway and collided with the minivan. Reily told investigators she had been following a blue car in the left-turn lane when she struck Carroll.

Carroll was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. Reily sought her own medical treatment.

YPD encourages any witness of the collision to call accident investigator Randy Thompson at 373-4700, or 78-CRIME to remain anonymous.
