Yuma police release name of man killed on Christmas Day

Yuma police have identified the victim of Tuesday afternoon's fatal shooting as 20-year-old Robin Rivera.

Little information is known about possible suspects. However, detectives are looking for a blue sport utility vehicle with black rims, possibly an Explorer, that may be involved.

“Detectives are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting,” said Sgt. Leanne Worthen of the Yuma Police Department.

Rivera, of Yuma, was shot at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the area of 19th Street and Madison Avenue.

He was transported by the Yuma Fire Department to Yuma Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at about 4 p.m.

YPD asks anyone with information about the case to call 373-4700 or Sgt. Ron Rodriguez at 373-4678, or 78-CRIME to remain anonymous.
