Supervisors to consider grant awards
The Yuma County Board of Supervisors will consider authorizing about $300,000 in Community Development Block Grants when they meet Tuesday.
The grants include:
• $75,000 for Campesinos Sin Frontera's Owner-Occupied Housing Rehabilitation Program.
• $225,000 for the Owner Occupied Housing Rehabilitation Home Modification Program with Servicing Maximizing Living Empowerment (SMILE).
• $52,883 for the Yuma Community Food Bank's Backpacks for Kids Program.
In other supervisors action, the board may approve intergovernmental agreements for the County 14th Street Asphaltic Overlay Project from Avenue A to Avenue 3E. The county would partner with the city of Yuma, designating Yuma County as lead agency for developing the project, and jointly sharing costs exceeding allocated federal assistance; and with the State of Arizona/Arizona Department of Transportation, providing for the development and review of improvement plans, specifications, environmental, and right of way in accordance with ADOT and all federal aid requirements.
Also, the board may approve sending a letter of appreciation on behalf of Yuma County to Sen. John McCain regarding the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter training program at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma.
The meeting begins at 9 a.m. Tuesday (delayed one day because of the Presidents Day holiday) at the Board of Supervisors auditorium, 198 S. Main St. A closed executive session precedes the regular meeting.
