Foothills committee to look at water services, fire protection
During their upcoming monthly meeting, the Foothills Fire and Rescue Committee will discuss better oversight of water and sewer services, a more equitable revenue generation system, and the pros and cons of possibly being incorporated and annexed by the city of Yuma.
The committee will also discuss the level of fire protection and level of response currently available to Foothills residents in times of emergencies.
The committee may also revisit issues discussed during a Feb. 20 meeting at Gila Ridge High School about the possibility of a 188 percent rate increase in services charged by Far West Water & Sewer to their customers in the Foothills area.
The forum is open to the public and free to attend. It will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Foothills Branch Library, 13226 E. South Frontage Road.
Officials in attendance will include Yuma area District General Manager Gary August of the Rural/Metro Fire Department, Yuma Mayor Alan Krieger and Yuma City Manager Greg Wilkinson.
Far West Water & Sewer, Arizona League of Cities and Towns, the Water Infrastructure Finance Authority of Arizona and the Yuma County Commissioners have also been invited to attend.
