Fundraiser will be fit for 'The King'

Professional Elvis impersonator Scot Bruce will perform in Yuma on Friday during “Shake! Rattle! & Roll!” a 1950s and '60s-era Elvis tribute concert spanning his early career through his debut on “The Ed Sullivan Show.”

Bruce has appeared as Elvis in movies including “Death Becomes Her” and on television shows such as “E! True Hollywood Story.” He has also starred in music videos, including Faith Hill's “Let's Go to Vegas” and Sheryl Crow's contribution to the movie “Leaving Las Vegas.”

Bruce also has a popular regular engagement as Elvis at Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif.

The charity concert will benefit the Yuma chapter of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). It will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the Yuma Civic Center, 1440 W. Desert Hills Drive. Adult tickets in advance are $20. Tickets at the event will be $25. Children's tickets are $15.

“All the money does go straight to the cause,” Bruce said. “Everybody wins. We get to celebrate really great music, and we get to help a lot of kids. It is something I look forward to each year.”

Bruce has participated in similar fundraisers for CASA for the past several years.

“I got involved quite a few years ago, and I am honored to be involved in this great program. We have to protect our kids. I could not be happier to be part of it. It really is a great organization.”

The CASA Program in Yuma County was established in 1992. It trains volunteers who advocate for abused and neglected children and provides toys, clothing, and personal care items for children who are wards of the state in Yuma County. Recreational activities and training are also provided by CASA.
