Mad Dog has anti-crime message for students
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Steering kids away from drugs, gangs and violence is the goal of Dale "Mad Dog" Messmer.
The ex-con will be telling children his story next week in a series of presentations by the Yuma Police Department, in cooperation with Yuma School District 1.
In his Straight Talk Outreach Program, Messmer informs his audience about the harsh and brutal realities of life behind bars. The program has garnered the endorsement and support of law enforcement agencies, juvenile courts and educational systems across the nation.
Presentations for school faculty and students will be Monday through Thursday at Castle Dome Middle School, Ron Watson Middle School, Gila Vista Junior High School, Fourth Avenue Junior High School and Desert View Academy.
Messmer will also hold one public presentation that is free of charge and designed for middle school-aged persons and above.
The public presentation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Post Auditorium, 400 W. 4th St.
