Kudos to staff, police who acted on bullying
It seems poetic justice that on Wednesday police arrested three high school students accused of harassing and assaulting a fellow student during Bullying Prevention Month.
According to the San Luis Police Department, the three Vista High School students taunted the 15-year-old boy and assaulted him during class and on the bus ride from San Luis to the Yuma campus. One of the accused students recorded some of the bullying.
They also allegedly threatened to assault him again if he told anyone about their behavior.
Police arrested the three accused bullies and now they face several charges.
Kudos to the Vista staff for being vigilant and recognizing the bullying and reporting it to police.
Parents, school staff and other adults can help prevent bullying by talking about it with kids, building a safe school environment and creating a community-wide bullying prevention plan. Find out what you can do at www.stopbullying.gov.
