Campaigns a big waste of money

I am a registered voter and what is happening to our country is downright disgusting.

There are 23 million people out of work (or whatever the correct number is). More people are on unemployment, welfare and food stamps than ever before and yet these political parties raise and spend hundreds of millions of dollars on their campaigns for advertising, guest spots on TV and rallies.

What has happened to American values? Wouldn't that money have been better spent on the homeless, returning injured veterans, retraining the out of work and generally those in need rather than trying to outdo each other during their campaigns?

There really needs to be a better way.
