Dog rescued from canal

I want to publicly thank the Yuma Police Department, Yuma Fire Department, the 911 operators and Yuma Animal Control officers for rescuing a dog.
My neighbor and I were walking our dogs along the irrigation canal between Avenue 9E and 9-1/2E. We heard a dog barking like it was in distress. Sure enough, we came across a Rottweiler mix in the canal and unable to get out.
I called 911 and gave the information. Thank goodness for cell phones with GPS. The fire guys arrived and fished the pooch out. Again thanks to all the responders.
