Tailgates need protecting, too
When out walking at night, I see a car parked in a neighbor's driveway that has this blue, anti-theft light brightly blinking on the dash. It is so bright, I can see it from three houses away.
Obviously, the device is supposed to thwart or discourage any would-be car thieves from taking the car or what's inside.
Now I'm reading where pickup truck tailgate thefts are on the rise across the country.
Yes, you read it correctly, tailgates are hot items. In fact, according to an article I read, from Jan. 1, 2006 through Sept. 30, 2012, 1,343 claims were made in 45 states.
Back in the day I used to worry about my 8-track tape deck and then it was my Pioneer AM/FM cassette deck, but I never thought my tailgate, of all things, would be in danger.
I'm thinking maybe I should attach one of those little blinking, blue lights to the tailgate on my truck.
