Caviar coming to vending machine near you?
OK, here is something I never thought would exist: a vending machine to dispense caviar.
But several shopping malls in upscale areas of Los Angeles now have them in place, according NBC News.
An enterprising caviar store owner came up with the idea of caviar vending machines, apparently anticipating a demand to get the fish egg delicacy on the spur of the moment while walking through a mall.
Personally, I've never felt any urgency to buy caviar no matter where I was.
These are no ordinary vending machines. They cost $85,000 each to build and contain $50,000 in caviar. Consumers can buy an ounce of the stuff for $5 to $500, depending on the brand and quality.
The entrepreneur admits even her family thinks she may be crazy.
What comes to my mind is the phrase “only in California.”
