Chocolate just seems to do the trick
I keep a candy dish on my desk in the newsroom, and I try to fill it once or twice a week, either with some form of chocolate or another other sugary treat.
It's especially top of mind for me when we have big deadlines looming, or breaking news sending us on a scramble.
It's at those moments that I think a little nibble of chocolate goes a long way to boosting one's spirits.
The downside is I often find myself reaching for one of those little pieces of chocolate, just because they are there. Tiny Kit-Kat? Don't mind if I do!
Sometimes I think it's time to make the bowl a permanent repository for apples or some other yummy fresh fruit.
However, when I've done that in the past, the apples have lasted quite awhile, sitting lonely in the bowl.
Maybe they just don't have the same sugary boost that the yummy chocolate does?
