Tax policies impacting middle class

I have listened to the gentlemen known as statesmen in our country and am totally fed up.

All we hear from these statesmen is we are looking after the middle class. Let's take a look at how well they look after the middle class. The wealthy in our country make up a small portion of the population and the poor make up another small portion. That leaves the biggest portion to the middle class. Unfortunately, the middle class is shrinking at an alarming pace, thanks largely to these statesmen and their misguided and reckless policies.

Mr. Obama, the statesman in charge, proposes to raise the tax on the wealthy and all the people and businesses that make $250,000 and up. Those nasty, big evil corporations that are taking advantage of all the working class. Guess what? Small businesses and these nasty, big evil corporations are where all the jobs are. Who is working? Oh, let me see, it's the middle class.

You raise the tax on Ford Motor Co. and they have to raise the price of the Ford. You don't see many multi-millionaires driving Fords. Most Fords are purchased by people in the middle class. Who pays the tax? Raise the tax on the local mom and pop locksmith and they have to raise the price of their services. Who pays the tax?

Now these same statesmen just passed the don't fall off the cliff patch. Guess what they did to protect the middle class? They did away with the two percent wage withholding, and now you working folks in the middle class will see your paychecks go down by two percent. Who pays the tax?

The biggest tax on the poor and the middle class is the price of gasoline because all of the items that we buy and use everyday are shipped by truck and trucks use gasoline and diesel.

When the price of gasoline and diesel goes up, the price of shipping goes up and the price of the goods being shipped must go up. Who pays the tax?

Another thing these statesmen are considering taking away is the mortgage interest deduction and that will directly hit the middle class the hardest. Oh, I know they say it will only affect those whose mortgages are over $500,000, but we know it will eventually be everyone. Who pays the tax?

The next time you hear one of our statesmen say they are working hard to protect the middle class, you folks in the middle had better grab your wallets and hide. Those of you that voted for hope and change, I hope the change that is coming is what you really wanted.
