Police have guns, why not citizens?
Comments 0 | Recommend 0In response to your June 17 editorial ("Mixing liquor and firearms not good idea"), if it is legal for a cop to go into a restaurant that serves liquor with a concealed weapon, then the taxpayer with a concealed weapons permit should also be allowed.
They both have the same type of power to control their emotions and common sense thinking abilities. Only criminals do not worry about what the law is. That is why there is a need for a concealed weapon license in the first place.
Cops cannot be everywhere at once and they cannot be there in 30 seconds either. If you can't protect yourself, who will?
Why no one has sued Columbine or Virginia Tech yet for not protecting them is beyond me. The schools called it a gun free zone - to me that means they accept responsibility for your safety.
Personally, I would feel a lot safer sitting in a restaurant if there were concealed weapons license holders in there with me. Whether there is or not, the criminal would never know and maybe he/she would think twice before shooting, because there might be someone in there that would be able to shoot back. That would make it a safer place for me to dine.
