Council member paid own expenses
A Yuma City Council member is compensated $300 per month and the mayor $1,000 - Medicare, -FICA, -Fed tax, -AZ tax, -retirement. The remainder went for my vehicle gas.
Invitations to local events where we were expected to represent the city – tickets were usually our cost.
State law says elected officials cannot accept gifts. And the remaining funds from an election campaign cannot be used any other way.
The city provides each elected official with an office and a computer.
For out of town trips a rental car is provided.
So yes, any additional expenses (i.e. shirts, name tags, etc) that I incurred were paid for by me.
