Sheriff Arpaio doing great job

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

In reference to Greg Olmos' Nov. 2 letter ("Arpaio should obey law first"), he should check out the Web site sheriffmack.com by Richard Mack, former sheriff of Graham County, Arizona. It discusses sheriffs and the power they have in their counties. It talks about a group called Oath Keepers which our country was founded on and it refers to the Tenth Amendment of our Constitution.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is doing a great job. His anti-immigration sweeps have nothing to do with his crazy clowning around. If we didn't have so many thousands of illegals coming into this country we wouldn't have to have sheriffs like him having to this kind of job.

Do you see Americans having a 10- to 12-year waiting list to immigrate to Mexico or any other country? How many Americans go to other countries and get free food stamps, free housing and free medical care? But they come into our country and still wave that flag that belongs to their country. If they are so proud of their country they should stay there. When they walk into this country they should do it legally and proudly.

They should be proud to learn English and our customs. Be proud of who they are but be proud of where they came to - they made the choice to come here. I have heard young immigrant men say that if there was to be a military draft here they would go back to their wonderful country Mexico. If they feel that way, why are they here?

When we travel to Mexico for any reason we never go over there expecting anything for free. We expect to pay for anything we get over there. That's not how many of them come over here thinking.

Illegals have caused California to go broke and they are working on Arizona and many parts of the Unites States, and it is not just illegals from Mexico.
