We can't stay silent about attack on values

We have remained silent for too long! It is time that we stood up for this great country and for our God. God prepared this land for the freedoms we now enjoy. God prepared righteous people to come here in search of freedom. Our Founding Fathers were guided by God's hand in the writing of the Constitution along with the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights.

Why is it then that so many people have flocked to this country from every nation around the world? Our Statue of Liberty symbolizes freedom. So, why is it then, instead of keeping these freedoms, we want to do away with the very things that have made this country great: God and the Constitution?

Little by little we have allowed a “few” to remove prayers from public gatherings, mention of God (In God We Trust and the Pledge of Allegiance) and even the display of the 10 Commandments (God's laws) from buildings.

And more recently, individuals have been trying to remove God, and I might add our ally Israel, from their political platform. And people wonder why our country is in such a mess now. One by one we are losing all our freedoms, and it is going to get worse if we don't stand up and say “no more!”

The German people didn't pay attention to Adolf Hitler until it was too late. The same thing happened to Cuba. Don't let this happen to our country.

I may be 78 years old and out of touch with many things in the world today, but I am not blind to what is happening to my country, and for this reason, I can no longer keep silent.

Thomas Jefferson said, “All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.”
