Write-in choice can help county
Voters in Yuma County have a unique opportunity to influence our representation in the Arizona Legislature.
The redistricting commission went out of their way to try to increase the influence of Maricopa and Pima Counties in the legislature. Because of the splitting of Yuma County into two districts, we are at a significant numerical disadvantage, most likely for 10 years.
There is good news for Yuma County and rural Arizona. In spite of the commission, both Lynne Pancrazi and Don Shooter are unopposed in their senate races.
If, as expected, the courts or the Legislature eventually disqualify Darin Mitchell, voters of District 13 can gain a bit more influence for Yuma County. All it will take is for voters to write-in the name of Russ Jones. As there is no candidate for the Democrats, it will help if Yuma County voters, of all parties, cast their write-in votes for Jones.
