Schools should cut costs when needed
I read the Yuma Sun editorial concerning Proposition 118 recommending a yes vote and I’m wondering why.
The provisions funding public schools through the state trust lands fund have existed for 100 years and seem to function as designed. In the good years the schools make money and in the bad years they don’t. That is the way investments work.
The problem lies with all those that can’t keep their hands off free money. The people at the schools who are able to control spending are working with blinders on because they refuse to believe the bucket is empty.
What have they got to lose? Their jobs!
If voters in their school districts look at their spending habits, they won’t last another term.
Excuses don’t outweigh facts, so pare down your costs in the bad times and work within your means.
