Good things come to those who wait

I recently read an article on impatience. The story had an illustration of a man eating a hamburger as he drove.

Guilty! I frequently eat on the run, in the car or at my desk. But I never considered it as being impatient. I thought I was multitasking, or saving time.

Upon reflecting on it, it’s true. By failing to stop and eat properly, I’m being impatient. And I’ve read all about the health benefits of taking the time to savor food instead of swallowing it.

I read another story about salmon that is being genetically modified to grow twice as fast as normal. Now this I consider impatience! Why do we need fish that grows twice as fast? Yes, somebody will probably make more money, but is it worth it?

It makes me a little nervous to eat something with altered DNA. I’d rather wait patiently for the salmon to grow naturally. Call me old-fashioned.
