Arizonans care about children and education

I recently saw the first political signs around town that say “No on 204,” and it reminds me why I am so opposed to everything the tea party stands for.

This group of selfish bigots is opposed to anything helpful to society if they are asked to contribute any amount of money. “No New Tax” their signs proclaim, probably because they don't have kids in school so they feel they don't want to pay it.

Well, here's a clue for them: We don't get to pick and choose what our tax money goes to. I'm opposed to Medicare in any way, shape or form. I'm opposed to all wars and don't want my tax dollars spent for any sort of weaponry or invasion of foreign countries.

I'm also opposed to private prisons, which collect huge amounts of tax dollars mainly to house any and all drug offenders to keep cells full. And I'm opposed to this ridiculous drug war that was lost years ago but drains billions of dollars, all of it wasted as drugs pour in to this country from every place possible.

But I don't get to choose, do I? I live in a society where we all should get along, where we need to look out for our fellow human beings, be they children or Hispanics or the elderly. And stop whining about a few dollars from our wallets going to help our neighbors, no matter their color, sex or age.

Arizona will vote yes on 204 because we care about children and we care about education. And most of us like Hispanics and people of color, and we don't think Obama is from Kenya and a socialist. Get over yourselves.
