‘Clean air' won't stay in one place
The environment is the tune of the day, with a group pursuing the good people of our planet with almost religious zeal to somehow return it to a "green" state. Webster’s defines an environmentalist as "a person who is concerned with protecting the earth’s environment, solving environmental problems and preserving natural resources."
Clean air, the desirability of which cannot be denied, is the song that these environmentalists want to force all of us to sing. So how do we get clean air? Easy, stop pumping these so-called pollutants into the air above us. The substance currently designated as the worst pollutant is carbon dioxide. While I doubt that any plant now living would agree that carbon dioxide is a pollutant, it wouldn’t be all that difficult for us to "clean" up the air over just about any place we chose,
Wonderfully clean air, healthy and clear ... today. And tomorrow? The air we so expensively "cleaned" has been blown eastward towards Europe and has been replaced with "dirty" air from China. We can clean our air forever, but the air doesn’t stay in place, it moves constantly eastward and always has.
I guess these environmentalists haven’t been able to figure this out yet and just keep on slogging away, making all of us pay the price to "clean" China’s air. I hope Europe appreciates what we are doing for them.
