Lasting memories of Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite holidays.

When I was little, my siblings and I always got dressed up before heading to my dad's family's house for lunch. We would spend hours playing with our cousins before eating a massive holiday meal.

It was always so hard to tear ourselves away, even though we knew more fun lurked around the corner.

Then we'd drive to my mom's side of the family for round two. My grandmother always had a huge appetizer table set up, loaded with deviled eggs, olives and a variety of other treats. Between the giant lunch and the appetizers, it was always a challenge to eat the actual dinner! Then it was time for dessert and another round of playing with another set of cousins.

By the time we'd head home, we were well-fed and exhausted. The lasting memory, though, is that we were surrounded by love, family and laughter throughout the day.
