Finger-wagging may have been smart maneuver
I’m beginning to wonder if Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer is like the stereotypical “country bumpkin” lawyer who lulls his courtroom opponents into believing he doesn’t know what he is doing, then wows everyone with a legalistic maneuver.
The outcome of the incident where she wagged her finger at President Obama reminds of that kind of thing.
Brewer initially said she intended no disrespect and simply is an animated talker who uses her hands.
But in the aftermath, she managed to parlay the incident into a major political coup.
Her supporters — and there are many in Arizona who like her battle against the president and the federal government — rallied to her side.
Sales of her book “Scorpions for Breakfast” soared. Her political war chest filled with donations. She is now walking tall.
Some are now wondering if she didn’t deliberately pull a fast one on everyone.
It appears to me the governor is not someone to underestimate.
